by Chris on Aug.26, 2011, under Top News

This week sees the release of three incredible metal tracks to add to your collection. Amberian Dawn return to the
Network once again with “War in Heaven”, the longest track from their most recent album. It features an amazing keyboard duel between the band’s own Tuomas Seppala and Jens Johansson from Stratovarius! Skindred also receive an update to their RBN1 classic “Stand for Something”, now with full pro drums charting, harmonies, and keys! And finally, Tunisian progressive metal
outfit Myrath make their debut this week with the incredible “Madness”; featuring duelling solos between guitar and keyboards (not to mention additional solos on drums and even flute!), tight, precise rhythm sections, and stellar vocal work, this is a track that you absolutely NEED in your collection.

One "Hell" Of A Power Ballad, Now On RBN!
by Chris on Aug.11, 2011, under Top News

It’s a bit of a slow week in the Rock Band Network community, with only two new songs released on Xbox 360. But our offering this week is a doozy, for certain!
Rochester’s Fallen Angel have been steadily bringing out tracks over the past few months from their incredible debut concept album, Crawling Out of Hell. Today sees the release of their latest song, and it’s a dramatic tonal shift; an epic, seven-minute-long power ballad entitled “Ashes to Ashes / Leaving It All Behind“. Feeling almost like four songs in one, this track will take you on a journey from start to finish, with incredible harmonizing vocals and melodic guitar riffs. Drummers are in for a treat, as well; while it’s not a particularly fast song, it’s one of the more technically challenging tracks in recent offerings, and you’ll definitely want to give it a go.
You can check it out now on the Rock Band Network store for 160 MSP.
A preview video and this week’s PS3 releases can be found after the jump.

CHIPTUNE HEROES ANAMANAGUCHI COMING TO THE ROCK BAND NETWORK WITH “AIRBRUSHED”
These past 12 months have been extremely busy for New York-based four-piece Anamanaguchi. After playing to crowds all across the United States at the PAX East and PAX Prime conventions, and coming hot off the heels of the release
of their debut full-length album, “Dawn Metropolis“, the chiptune punk band that self-effacingly describes their style as “making loud, fast music with a hacked NES from 1985″ was recently thrust into the limelight after being tapped to score the soundtrack for the video game adaptation of the hugely popular Scott Pilgrim vs. the World series of comics.

Q. What do The Beatles, The Who, Lady Gaga and Bang on a Can have in common?
A. They’re all playable on the Rock Band video game!
BANG ON A CAN’S ALL-STARS: FIRST EVER CONTEMPORARY MUSIC GROUP TO BE RELEASED VIA GROUNDBREAKING ROCK BAND NETWORK
Founded in 1992 by the “relentlessly inventive” Bang on a Can (New York Magazine), the Bang on a Can All-Stars have continuously redefined concert music and its role in society. Shattering traditional notions of genres and performance practices alike, the All-Stars have repeatedly proven themselves to be “the country’s most important vehicle for contemporary music” (San Francisco Chronicle).
The All-Stars have yet again forged into uncharted territory with their recent release via Rock Band Network, the ground-breaking initiative that gives musicians, publishers and record labels the ability to author their original recordings into gameplay files to promote and sell their music as playable Rock Band tracks through the Rock Band Network Music Store (RBN Store). With more than 1500 tracks available to date on the Rock Band platform, the Rock Band Network Music Store has dramatically increased the number of available songs, further securing MTV Games and Harmonix’s position as the leading provider of downloadable content for music-based video games.
Amberian Dawn listens to fan response, announces five more RBN tracks
by Meri on Feb.08, 2010, under Top News
Back in September, we announced that we were incredibly excited to work with Amberian Dawn on two of their hit tracks, “River of Tuoni” and “He Sleeps in a Grove”.
The RBN preview clips for “River of Tuoni”, the title track from their debut album, and “He Sleeps in a Grove” from their second album, The Clouds of Northland Thunder, have each eclipsed the 2,000 view mark! The “River of Tuoni” preview alone has gathered 3,780 as of today and has only been up for a few months. If our forums and preview comments are any measure of Amberian Dawn’s future in RBN, then their popularity is undisputed. Excited RGS and RBN fans have already vowed to buy their tracks when RBN launches.
As a response to your overwhelming support for Amberian Dawn’s tracks, we are ecstatic to announce that they have signed on to publish 5 more songs with RockGamer Studios. Amberian Dawn’s new tracks on RBN will be “Valkyries”, “Lullaby”, “The Curse”, “Fate of the Maiden” and “Evil Inside Me”, all from their original album River of Tuoni.
