Yes, playing 'Daisy' feels just like this.

INDIE ROCK SENSATIONS FANG ISLAND BRING THEIR HIT SINGLE “DAISY” TO THE ROCK BAND NETWORK

A school art project has never sounded so good. Then again, its members don’t usually end up touring with some of the biggest names in rock and indie music today. But, unlike many other art projects at the Rhode Island School of Design, Fang Island decided to make a name for themselves, traveling the country and gaining countless fans and recognition along the way.

The group has received stellar reviews from Pitchfork Media and the Seattle Stranger. They even scored a coveted spot on the Spin 21st Anniversary Concert alongside indie icons The Flaming Lips and later toured with The Stone Temple Pilots and the Black Keys. We know, readers, just try not to be jealous of Fang Island’s awesome tourmates and rising star of fame.

Harmonious group vocals are certainly hard to come by, but Fang Island’s emotive, unique vocal harmonies really hit the mark. The infectious guitar riffs, sing along choruses and spunky synth will leave you wanting more.

For us, listening to their self-titled debut album is an experience in itself. Their upbeat anthem “Daisy” is not unlike riding a rockin’ roller coaster while happy nostalgic memories pass by on a giant jumbotron, complete with fireworks overhead. Even the grumpiest misanthrope will crack a secret smile while listening to this band.

And just to let you know, these guys are not afraid to show their quirky side on the stage or in the recording studio. In the video for “Careful Crossers” the guys play to a packed room of fans who brandish silly string and wear colorful getups.

Fang Island currently have three published works. They have recorded one 8-track, Day of the Great Leap, and one EP, Sky Gardens. “Daisy” hails from Fang Island’s self titled debut LP (Sargent House Records, 2010).

What do glittery capes, converse chucks, conga lines, dirty dancing, and leaping ex-presidents have in common? Well, you’ll just have to find out for yourself at Fang Island’s official website. Check out the band’s media section to see what we are talking about and keep an eye out for “Daisy” coming to RBN soon!
