Flight to Athena, who proclaim themselves “one of the hardest promoting bands in San Diego,” are exploring yet another avenue to get their music out to the world: the Rock Band Network.

The group, whose influences include Taking Back Sunday, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus and Muse, has signed on with RockGamer Studios to bring their hit song “O is for Addiction” to RBN.

Flight to Athena has only been around since 2006, but the band has managed to blaze a pretty fast path to the hearts of music audiences everywhere. Lately, they have been busy publishing and promoting their new album City Under Fire, which you can check out for free on their MySpace page. You can also download their entire Flight to Athena EP in digital format on their official website.

We are excited to introduce the world of RBN to Flight of Athena by way of “O is for Addiction,” a heart-rending tale about addiction and redemption. Fans are especially impressed with vocalist Brian Miller’s intensely poetic lyrics. In “O is for Addiction,” Miller croons, “I’m nodding off as whispers fall, I’ll fall asleep despite my dreams.” Flight To Athena’s song topics range from drug addiction and revelation, to self esteem and second chances.

Guitarist Pat Alcoke couldn’t be happier to bring the band’s “powerful guitars and fervent drums [that] compliment swirling vocal melodies and heartfelt/clever lyrics” to the millions of Rock Band players around the globe.

For those of you in the San Diego area, Flight to Athena is headlining the February 26th SOMA concert, a venue dedicated to assisting local communities by providing teens and young musicians with a safe music environment.
